Undertake Road Crash Rescue


Course overview

The Road Crash Rescue course offered by Mines Rescue provides participants with an understanding of road crash rescue equipment and techniques in a rescue environment.

The course is targeted to meet the needs of surface mines and general industries.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will gain skills and knowledge in:

  • Preparing and responding to road crash rescue
  • Establishing and maintaining rescue scene safety
  • Managing casualties
  • Removing casualties from entrapment
  • Preserving the incident scene and completing post operational activities
Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Road Crash Rescue course, participants will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the following units:

  • PUASAR022A Participate in a rescue operation; and
  • PUASAR024A Undertake road crash rescue

These units contribute to the completion of the Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (RII30715) and derive from the Certificate III in Public Safety (Firefighting and Emergency Operations) (PUA30613).

Entry requirements

Participants must have completed the following units:

  • PUAEME001B Provide emergency care; or
  • HLTFA211A Provide basic emergency life support and
  • PUAEME002C Manage injuries at emergency incident; or                             
  • HLTFA311A Apply first aid

In addition, participants are encouraged to gain knowledge and experience of the policies and procedures of their workplace before starting the course.

It is acknowledged that this is a course based on a Certificate III level qualification that requires appropriate levels of language, literacy and numeracy skills to manage course work, in-course activities and assessment tasks.

You are encouraged to refer to our Participant Handbook and RPL/CT Handbook for Applicants and speak with Mines Rescue prior to commencing training.
