Coal Mines Deputies Course
Course Overview
The Mines Rescue Certificate IV in Underground Coal Operations (Deputies) reflects the role of mine supervisors and team leaders (i.e. deputies), in an underground coal mine. The course aims to prepare candidates for tasks involving a broad range of complex work activities which surround leadership, contribution to technical solutions and to non-routine problems, as well as application & monitoring of safety management plans.

Upon successful completion of the Deputies course, participants will be awarded the following:
Vocational Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course and sitting the Coal Competence Board’s Deputies written and oral examinations, participants will be able to pursue a career as a Mine Deputy.
Delivery Strategy
Mines Rescue offers this course over 26 days. The course structure is comprised of a blended approach, involving classroom based lectures/tutorials, workplace practical assessments under guidance of an appropriate workplace mentor, and through submitted assignments.
