Working Safely at Heights
Course Overview
This course covers working safely at heights in resources and infrastructure industries. It includes: identifying the work requirements, work procedures and instructions for the task; accessing and installing equipment; performing work at heights; and cleaning up the work area.(also an optional Rescue component)
This course covers the competency required to undertake safe working practices when working at heights or depths.
Qualification Information
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded the following:
- RIIOHS204A Work Safely at Heights
This competency is nationally Recognised and is taken from the RII09 Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

This unit is appropriate for those working in a operational roles, at worksites within:
- Civil construction
- Coal mining
- Drilling
- Extractive industries
- General industry & trades.
Delivery Strategy
Mines Rescue offers two options for Work Safely at heights course
1) Over a 4 hour period for SWAH basic
2) Over 1 day period that includes the rescue component.
Participants learn through a number of different learning experiences to complete the practical and theory activities. Face to face training will be under the guidance of one of our qualified trainers who holds relevant and up to date training and assessment qualifications.
