Course Overview
The Mines Rescue RII50909 Diploma of Underground Coal Mining Management (Undermanagers) reflects the role of mine production managers or undermanagers who work in an underground coal mine. The course aims to prepare candidates for tasks involving a high level of autonomy and requiring the application of significant judgement in planning & determining the selection of equipment/roles/techniques for themselves and others. Candidates are required to demonstrate a broad range of technical, managerial, coordination and planning skills as well as the implementation of safety management plans.
Vocational Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course and the Undermanagers Part B written and oral examinations, participants will be able to pursue a career as a Statutory Mining Supervisor - Undermanager.
Delivery Strategy
Mines Rescue offers this course over 24 days. The course structure is comprised of a blended approach, involving classroom-based lectures/tutorials, workplace practical assessments under the guidance of an appropriate workplace mentor, and through submitted assignments.
